Chaey Leem
Bariatric Doctor
Chaey Leem is a NZ-trained medical graduate from the University of Otago. He has a strong passion for treating obesity and making a difference for his patients. Chaey started his journey as an obesity doctor by being inspired by experienced bariatric surgeons at North Shore Hospital. He saw the life-changing effects of bariatric surgery on his patients and decided to continue down that pathway.
He is a SCOPE*-certified obesity doctor endorsed by the World Obesity Federation and an ANZMOSS recognised bariatric physician. He currently works at Surgical Weight Solutions, and at the local public bariatric clinic at North Shore Hospital. He also practises as a general practitioner at The Doctors Apollo.
Chaey provides a warm, non-judgmental treatment approach to obesity and its related complications. He will provide you with a well-rounded assessment and patient-centred treatment plan. He is prepared to discuss all aspects of obesity treatment with you, including lifestyle changes, behavioural changes/psychology, medications, and bariatric surgery.

Victoria Liang
Dietitian. BSc, MHSc (Nutrition and Dietetics)
Victoria is a Registered Dietitian with over 7 years' experience working with a variety of medical and surgical specialities including chronic kidney disease, diabetes, and bariatric surgery.
Victoria grew up in Hamilton and undertook her training at the University of Auckland where she completed her Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Food Science and Nutrition, followed by her Master of Health Science (MHSc) in Nutrition and Dietetics with First Class Honours.
After completing her studies, she returned to Hamilton to gain valuable experience at Waikato Hospital. She later moved back to Auckland, where she served as a Senior Clinical Dietitian at Middlemore Hospital, specialising in both bariatric and renal care. In addition to her clinical work, Victoria took on the role of Dietetic Student Clinical Coordinator, mentoring and supporting the next generation of dietitians.
Currently, Victoria is in private practice, where she is dedicated to forging meaningful relationships with her clients. She is passionate about providing personalised, evidence-based nutrition advice tailored to each individual’s needs, ensuring that their dietary goals are both sustainable and achievable.
Mandie Stewart
Psychologist
Mandie began her career in 2001 as a medic with the Royal New Zealand Navy, serving across the South Pacific and Middle East in peacekeeping roles and supporting people in extreme circumstances. This sparked her interest in the link between psychological and physical health, leading her to complete a Master of Health Science in Psychology with Honours (MHSc) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling Psychology from AUT University.
With over a decade of experience, she is now a senior Registered Counselling Psychologist working across clinical, workplace, and community settings. She remains connected to the military through psychological rehabilitation work, supports frontline workers with Te Kiwi Māia, and is contracted to Optimally, focusing on workplace well-being and adult ADHD assessment.
Her expertise includes burnout, stress, trauma, people’s relationships with food, and anxiety-related disorders. She also helps clients strengthen interpersonal skills, clarify life direction, and address challenges such as imposter syndrome. Trained in CBT, Mindful Self-Compassion, and ACT, Mandie offers a warm, empathetic space where clients feel safe, understood, and empowered.
Outside work, she enjoys the beach with her family, paddle-boarding, fishing, and soaking up the sun, and at home, she loves playing guitar or painting.
Heather Bae
Practice Nurse Manager & Obesity Nurse
Heather is a registered nurse with a kind, caring, patient-centred approach to her patients. She is a proud mother of two young boys and enjoys spending time with them.
Heather will make sure that you are well supported at Medical Weight Solutions and ensure that your journey is a seamless process.
She'll be closely involved in your treatment plan, from answering your questions to providing nurse-led follow-up appointments.
